Olympic weightlifting is the sport of performing two specific weightlifting movements: the snatch, and the clean and jerk (the clean and snatch is no longer an official Olympic lift).

In the UK, there is increasing interest in learning Olympic weightlifting. London has many gyms with Olympic bars available. But to train properly, you need not just facilities but also proper coaching. These are not easy lifts. The moves are very technical and athletic. You need to lift safely by being technically proficient at it. Mobility, balance, and skill need to be developed at the same time as explosive power.

This is why they’re used in CrossFit to increase work capacity. The snatch and the clean and jerk produce the most change in the muscles.
